MARIETTA — Mrs. Myrtice Gruber Stephens, 86, passed away Monday evening, Jan. 12, 2015, at WellStar Community Hospice at Kennesaw Mountain in Marietta, Ga. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan.16, 2015, at Rehoboth Baptist Church. The Rev. Greg Kirk and the Rev. James Beckett will officiate. Interment will follow at Rehoboth Baptist Church Cemetery. Nephews will serve as active pallbearers and the deacons of Rehoboth Baptist Church are asked to serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends frpm 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015, at the funeral home, and at other times the family residence, 108 Glenwood Road, Americus.

Mrs. Stephens was born March 12, 1928, in Blakely, Ga., the daughter of the late John Herbert Gruber and the late Mary Young Gruber. She was a home maker; a charter member of Monring Glory Garden Club and a charter member of the Tuesday Morning Bridge Club. She was a longtime member of Rehoboth Baptist Church.

Mrs. Stephens is survived by her beloved husband Cleveland Fox Stephens of Woodstock, Ga. formerly of Americus; a son and daughter-in-law, Creig Fox Stephens and Barbara also of Woodstock, Ga. One granddaughter Paige Stephens and a number of nieces and nephews including local nephews Jimmy Skipper and Wray Skipper and a cousin Dorothy Jean McMichael also survive. Mrs. Stephens was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.
