Home for the holidays

These four outstanding young men graduated from local high schools in 2014, and returned home for Christmas. From left are Tye Skala, son of Brian and Dani Skala, Americus/Sumter County High School, now attending University of North Georgia in Dahlonega; Matt Ledger, son of Allen and Jennifer Ledger, Southland Academy, attending the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Md.; Carl Johnson, son of Grant and Sylvia Johnson, Americus/Sumter County High School, now attending the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y.; and Brandon Mooney, son of Vince and Janie Mooney, Schley County High School attending the University of North Georgia, Dahlonega. Mooney and Skala were both awarded the Georgia Military Scholarship. Both young men completed and graduated Basic Training and AIT from Fort Benning with their MOS being Infantry. Mooney plans to double major in engineering and mathematics while Skala plans to pursue a history degree.
