• Firefighters responded to an alarm in Swett Avenue where they found that a leaking riser valve had set it off.

• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident on Crawford Street.

• Firefighters responded to an alarm at Americus-Sumter County High School South Campus, 805 Harrold Ave. No hazards were found.

• Firefighters responded again to an alarm at Americus-Sumter County High School South Campus, 805 Harrold Ave., where maintenance advised they were having problems with the alarm.

• Firefighters responded to alarms several times on Swett Avenue where they were working on the system; no hazards were found.

• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident on East Lamar Street.

• Firefighters responded to a vehicle fire on West Lamar Street where occupant had used a portable extinguisher to put the fire out.

• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident at Hudson and Jefferson streets.

• Firefighters responded to Murphy Mill Road to a report of a possible structure fire. They found a pole in the driveway on fire, which they extinguished. They found that the pole had been a porch column.

• Firefighters responded to a structure fire on U.S. Highway 280 East where they found the house filled with smoke. The source was determined to be a melted electrical cord.
