Childers appointed to Ga. Board of Community Health

ATLANTA — Governor Nathan Deal recently announced the appointment of Russ Childers of Americus to the Georgia Board of Community Health. The Department of Community Health (DCH) is responsible for Medicaid and PeachCare for Kids®, the State Health Benefit Plan, Healthcare Facility Regulation and Health Information Technology.

Childers has been a life and health insurance agent for 42 years. He has served as president and legislative chair of the Georgia Association of Health Underwriters and was chosen in 2000 as the Health Underwriter of the Year in Georgia. In 2010, he served as president of the National Association of Health Underwriters. He is the recipient of the 2014 Harold R. Gordon Memorial Award. Childers earned a bachelor’s degree from Georgia State University. He lives in Americus.
