JEFFERSON CITY — Doris Pierce Davis, 95, died peacefully on Jan. 20, 2015, at Chandler House Assisted Living in Jefferson City. Preceded in death by husband, J.H. Davis Jr. of Smithville, Ga.; parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.A. Pierce of Talbotton, Ga.; sisters Elizabeth Jarvis and Winifred Boyd of Pine Mountain, Ga.; and brother W.T. Pierce of Talbotton, Ga.; daughter-in-law, Paula P. Davis. Survived by sons, James H. Davis (Jane) of New Market, and Billy E. Davis of Alpharetta, Ga.; grandsons Ralph Davis (Kim) of Halls, Tenn., Brian Davis (Rebecca) of Madison, Ala., Evan Davis (Jessica) of Alpharetta, Ga., and Harrison Davis (Ryan) of Alpharetta, Ga.; as well as great-grandchildren Eli Davis, Jack Davis and Sarah Davis; and brother Lloyd B. Pierce of Pine Mountain, Ga.

Doris was born on Nov. 1, 1919, in rural Taylor County, Georgia, and grew up on a farm near Talbotton, Ga. In 1942, she married her husband, J.H., and lived most of her adult life on a farm in Smithville, Ga. She was a member of Smithville Baptist Church. In 2009 she moved to Chandler House to be near her son Jim.

A short memorial service was held from 11-11:30 a.m. Jan. 24 at Chandler House with the Rev. Mike Chamberlain and the Rev. Ron Zills officiating. Family received friends from 10 to 11 a.m. The family would like to thank Chandler House and Amedisys Hospice for their loving care. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Jefferson County Habitat for Humanity. Gentry Griffey Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Knoxville, Tenn., is honored to serve the family.
