AMERICUS — Glenn Tracy Adams, 64, of 625 Young’s Mill Road, Americus, died Tuesday, Feb.10, 2015, at his residence. A native of Americus, he was born Aug. 13, 1950, the son of the Albert Adams and Evelyn Mays. He was a past president of Georgia Groceries Association, Georgia Jaycees and was a past Lumpkin City Council member, Mayor ProTem in Lumpkin and head coach of Little League baseball in Lumpkin. He was a community leader and volunteered for many charities including Relay for Life. Glenn was a local celebrity known for his DJ business known as “The Backdoor Man.”

Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, 2015, at Williams Road Church of Christ with the Rev. Keith Wishum and the Rev. Raymond Smith officiating. The family will receive friends at the home of Terry & Debra Adams, 426 Sears Road, Richland, GA 31825. The family also suggests memorial contributions be made to Williams Road Church of Christ, 110 Williams Road, Americus GA 31709, or Raintree Village Children’s Home, 3757 Johnston Road, Valdosta GA 31601.

Survivors include his father and stepmother, Albert Adams and Mavis Sheets of Richland; his mother, Evelyn F. Mays of Americus; a daughter and son-in-law, Dixie and Wayne Rouse, of Rochelle; two sons, Dustin Adams of Birmingham, Ala., and Dillion Adams of Americus; a brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Debra Adams of Richland; a stepsister, Glenda Lowe of Americus; one grandchild, Myles Rouse; and nieces and nephews, Nikki Bryant, Missi Grimsley, Crissi Hinman and Jeff Robinson. He was preceded in death by stepfather, John D. Mays and also nieces and nephews, Kelly Robinson, Clay Adams and Patrick Robinson.
