Southland, GSW partner to host GISA state wrestling tournament

AMERICUS – The Georgia Independent School Association’s 2015 state wrestling tournament will be held in the Georgia Southwestern State University Storm Dome on February 13-14.

More than 100 athletes will be participating in the two-day event hosted by Southland Academy.

“Southland Academy is excited to be partnering with Georgia Southwestern to host this event,” said Southland assistant headmaster and athletic director Clint Humphrey. “We are looking forward to a great weekend.”

The first round begins on Friday at 11 a.m. Matches on Saturday get started at 9 a.m. Daily admission prices are $7 for adults and $4 for students in grades 1-12. Children 5 and under are free.

Individual state champions will be crowned on Day 2 in each of the 14 weight classes and the cumulative results will lead to one of the 18 represented schools being awarded the team title.
