Montezuma – Macon County High four-star linebacker submitted a letter of intent to play football for the University of Georgia Bulldogs on the morning of Feb. 13.

Ranked number 29 overall in his recruiting class, Smith had originally announced that he would sign with UCLA to play next fall after receiving 24 different offers from programs all over the country. The Macon County superstar changed his mind after learning that UCLA’s defensive coordinator had accepted a position with the Atlanta Falcons.

Following this ordeal, Smith decided to take some time to consider his decision, reporting that he was considering offers from the University of Georgia, Texas A&M, Michigan, and UCLA.

Smith announced his decision to sign a financial aid agreement with the University of Georgia on Friday morning. This decision will protect Smith from being bound to the university should any unexpected changes occur in the school’s football program.

With the addition of Smith, the University of Georgia’s 2015 recruiting class ranking improves to sixth. The Bulldogs were previously ranked eighth.
