Masked men, armed with small-caliber handguns held up a Texas florist on Valentine’s Day, complicating flower deliveries, but escaping with nothing. 

The two men entered Heartfield Florist in Huntsville, Texas late Saturday morning, demanded cash and tied up two employees in a back room of the business. 

While they asked employees to open the store safe, they fled when told there was no money inside. 

Huntsville Police Department Detective Jim Barnes said no one was injured in the robbery.

The employees said they were shocked to witness such a crime take place in their shop on the busiest day of the year.

“You don’t expect anything like this in Huntsville,” said Krystal Pierce, whose parents, Cindy and Danny Pierce, own Heartfield Florist.

“In broad daylight at 11 o’clock on Valentine’s Day, no, we never thought this would happen,” Pierce added. “You know things like this happen. You would like to hope that they would never happen to you.”

The shop stayed open after police investigated the scene of the crime. Before the day was done, employees busily completed all of their Valentine’s Day deliveries.

“We’re at this point just trying to finish up our day and get the remainder of our deliveries out,” Pierce said around 3:30 p.m. “It obviously put us back on designing and delivering for a little while. It just kind of put a halt on everything.”

Huntsville Police officers are still searching for the robbery suspects.
