AMERICUS, Ga. – The Georgia Southwestern men’s golf team moved into the 17th spot in the latest Bushnell Golfweek Division II Coaches Poll released today by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).

The ‘Canes were tied for 21st in the last poll posted back in November after ending their fall season with a pair of second place finishes. The men played in their first spring tournament last week where they placed 2nd out of 18 teams.

“It’s nice to see all the hard work the guys have been putting in pay off,” commented head coach Darcy Donaldson. “We have finished 2nd in our last three tournaments dating back to early October. We are about to get into the heart of our spring schedule with some tough stacked fields. It is going to be fun. We still have a lot of work to do to get to where we are capable of playing. Our goals are set high and we are on the right track. I am very proud of them and there work ethic.”

The 17th-ranked Hurricanes are one of seven Peach Belt Conference schools to appear in the NCAA DII national poll. USC Aiken is ranked third, Columbus State is ranked No. 13, Flagler No. 16, and Georgia College No. 25. Lander recieved 28 votes and Armstong received 15.

The Hurricanes return to action March 8 for the Southeastern Collegiate tournament hosted by Valdosta State at the Kinderlou Forest Golf Club.
