AMERICUS — A bomb-wielding man robbed CVS Pharmacy Wednesday night.

According to a press release from the Americus Police Department, a white male entered the store at 1036 E. Forsyth St. at 8:55 p.m. and went straight to the pharmacy at the rear of the store.

The suspect “dove” through an opening to the pharmacy and told employees he had a bomb strapped to his chest and showed the device to the pharmacist and pharmacy technician. He demanded narcotics by name and the employees complied. He left the store and got into a gray minivan and left the area.

A lookout for the suspect was given to all surrounding agencies. The man was wearing a red bandana across the lower portion of his face and a hoodie of an unknown color when the robbery occurred.

The case is still under investigation and no arrest has been made.
