AMERICUS — Mr. James Ralph Wells, 74, passed away Thursday morning, March 5, 2015, at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center.  Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 7, 2015, at Salem United Methodist Church. The Rev. Lawrence Wiggins and the Rev. Bill Dupree will officiate. Interment will follow at Buena Vista City Cemetery in Buena Vista, Ga. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday evening, March 6, 2015, at the funeral home and other times at the family residence ,125 Marvin McNeill Road, Americus.

Active pallbearers will be Jimbo Littlefield, Tim Littlefield, Paul Hall, Joey Wells, Michael Magee and Mike Gurley. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Highnote, Al Hargrove, Bill Thompson, Buddy Thompson, Horace Snider, Wayne Jernigan, Billy Smith, Edward “Pobitty” Reynolds and Herbert Tante.

Mr. Wells was born Aug. 10, 1940, in Ellaville, Ga., the son of the late Dan Wells and Ruby Allen Wells. Mr. Wells graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in accounting and later received his CPA license. He was the owner’operator of J. Ralph Wells CPA in Americus and was former owner of WW Fast Foods. He loved his family and grandchildren. He enjoyed farming and his cows. He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, a Gideon and former Rotarian. He was a member of the Red Cross.

Mr. Wells is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Carole Lewis (Thomas) of Tazewell, Ga., Stephanie Magee (Jeff) of Americus, Ga., and Jaime Smith (Deke) of Americus. Also surviving are eight grandchildren: Averi Smith of Americus, Brittany Lewis, Haley Lewis, Brycen Wells Lewis and Alexis Jacqueline Lewis, all of Tazewell, Ga., Derek Wisenbaker of Albany, Ga., Michael Magee of Americus and Kristen Magee of Atlanta, Ga. Mr. Wells was preceded in death by his beloved wife Helen Alexis Dawson Wells.
