BATON ROUGE, La. — Gregory Bryant Lacy, 55, passed away March 4, 2015, at Baton Rouge General Hospital, where he was treated for complications after treatment for a broken ankle.

Greg is survived by his wife of 23 years, Thitiporn Punasata Lacy; his mother Kay Whidbee Sherwood; sister Angela Lacy McCollugh; brother Anthony Ray Lacy and sister Brent Lacy Joyner.

Greg was the son of Ray Bryant Lacy and Kay Sherwood. Greg’s grandparents were Grace and I.B. Lacy of Monroeville, Ala., and J.A. and Katherine Riley Whidbee of Columbia, Miss. Great-grandparents were Mr. and Mrs. D.L. Faulkenberry of Tunnel Springs, Ala., Mr. and Mrs. Jack Whidbee, and Mr. and Mrs. William Riley of Columbia, Miss.

Greg graduated from high school in 1978, in Mandeville, La., and from Georgia Southwestern College in 1993. He received a master of science from Middle Georgia University in 1995, and continued to New Mexico University to work toward a doctorate degree for three years. He worked at White Sands Missile Range as a biologist for five years before returning to the South. In Baton Rouge he worked as an environmental scientist for GSRC for five years doing field research; later he did consulting.

The memorial service for Greg will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 14, 2015, at Philidelphia Baptist Church in Tunnel Springs, Ala.
