Robert Cook named SGTC new commercial truck driving Instructor

AMERICUS — Robert A. Cook of Americus has joined South Georgia Technical College (SGTC) as a full-time commercial truck driving instructor, announced SGTC President Sparky Reeves. He will report to SGTC Dean of Instruction Raymond Holt and SGTC Vice President of Academic Affairs John Watford, Ed. D.

Cook, who is 1997 graduate of the SGTC commercial rruck driving program, has worked as a commercial truck driver for the past 18 years. He has worked for companies based out of Florida, Oklahoma, Alabama and Georgia. He has experience in local, regional and coast to coast hauling. He has worked with refrigerated, dry freight and flatbed cargos. He also has experience in diesel mechanics, customer service, shipping and receiving, inventory management and driver training.

“We are pleased to have Robert Cook join our commercial truck team,” said SGTC President Sparky Reeves. “We believe that he will be an asset to our college and that he has a great deal of knowledge and experience that will be beneficial to our students who wish to pursue a career in the trucking industry.”

SGTC’s commercial trucking driving program is ranked among the 10 best in Georgia and is listed as one of the top 35 in the south.

South Georgia Tech teaches Commercial Truck Driving on both the Americus and Crisp County campuses.
