GSW golf sits in 11th after day one at the Bobcat Invitational

EATONTON, Ga.- The Georgia Southwestern men’s golf team sits in 11th place out of 17 teams after day one at the Bobcat Invitational on the par-70, 6,730-yard Golf Club at Cuscowilla on Lake Oconee.

The team field consists of 10 top-25 teams in Division II, five of which are in the top-10 of the latest Golfstat Head-to-Head ranking. GSW ranks 18th and is one of eight Peach Belt Conference teams playing in the tournament.

The Hurricanes posted a team score of 577 after 2 18-hole rounds on March 16. GSW shot 9-over par in Round 1 to get a team score of 289 and improved in Round 2 with a team score of 288, 8-over par. GSW sits 20 strokes behind the leader, No. 1 Nova Southeastern and are 12 strokes behind the second position held by No. 6 Sait Leo.

Nicholas Ward leads the Canes with an overall score of 140, shooting 4-under par in Round 1 with a 70 and 4-over par in Round 2 with a 74. Ward is tied for eighth overall out of the 93 player field. Ward is five strokes behind the top contender, Chandler Blanchet, from West Florida.

Chris Low shot 4-over par in Round 1 with a score of 74 and improved in Round 2 with a 1-under par score of 69. Low sits tied for 27th with a combined score of 143.

Hayes Dupree sits tied for 50th posting a score of 147 shooting a 75 in Round 1 and improving in Round 2 with a 72. Fraser Johnston scored a 149 after getting a 74 and a 75 which puts him tied for 64th. Anders Olsson sits tied for 85th after posting a score of 154. Olsson shot an 81 in Round 1 and improved in Round 2 with a 73.
