Knights of Columbus charity golf tournament held March 21

AMERICUS – The 18th Annual Knights of Columbus Charity Golf Tournament was held at the Brickyard Plantation in outside Americus on March 21.

The format of the tournament was a four-man scramble.

The team of Mike Legg, Ralph Norton, Clayton Freeman and Wiley Allman took first place in the tournament with a score of 62. The second place team with a score of 63 was Scottie Barnes, Arty Cromer, Tully Hall and Terry Salter. The team of Kay McGee, George McGee, Bobby Underwood and Richard Goodin took third place with a score of 64. The fourth place team with a score of 65 was Gloria Parmentier, Bobby Usry, Artis Johnson and Joe Searcy. All four teams donated their prize money back to the Knights of Columbus.

Individual prize winners were Clayton Freeman, who came closest to the pin on the mounds number five, Joe Searcy, who came closest to the pin on mounds number seven, Steve Exley, who was closest to the pin on waters number five, and Bernie Bosse, who was closest to the pin on waters number six.

Kay McGee sank the longest putt on mounds number nine.

$5,000 was raised for charity.

The following businesses and individuals were sponsors: Eagle Sponsor , $500, Barrington Dairy and Birdie Sponsors, $250, Austin Urethane and Britt Miller Contracting.

Many other local businesses and individuals sponsored holes and donated prizes.
