LEHILLIER, Minn. — A felony assault charge is being requested for a woman who police say stabbed her boyfriend in the buttocks early Saturday morning after a long night of drinking.

The Mankato, Minnesota Free Press reports sheriff’s deputies were called to a house at about 6:30 a.m. While they were on the way they were notified that the victim, 24-year-old Sean Colin Webster-Mulcahey, had left the scene. He was found in a nearby residence with blood on his face and clothes, deputies reported.

When Webster-Mulcahey was asked what had happened, he said he had walked to a nearby convenience store to buy cigarettes and his girlfriend, 23-year-old Mercede Lee Johnson, was hiding in his Sturgis Street house when he returned. He said she “shanked” him in the “ass” when he walked through the entryway.

During interviews with Webster-Mulcahey and Johnson, deputies were told the couple had been drinking at the Oleander Saloon in Mankato before leaving and going to Johnson’s house a short distance away from the bar. They drank there for awhile before he left in a cab and returned to his Sturgis Street residence at about 4 a.m.

Webster-Mulcahey said Johnson called him several times while he was getting cigarettes, but he didn’t answer because he didn’t want her to join him. Deputies reported finding blood all over the house, including in the entryway where Webster-Mulcahey said he had been stabbed by Johnson.

The couple told deputies they had been “wrestling” after drinking more shots of liquor at the Sturgis Street residence. Johnson said Webster-Mulcahey had a knife in his pocket and accidentally stabbed himself while they were wrestling.

Blood also was found at the McKinzie Street residence.

No knife was found when the Sturgis Street house was searched. Deputies did take two blood swabs and confiscated a marijuana bong during the search.

Johnson was taken to the Blue Earth County Jail.
