AMERICUS — The Mayor and City Council have named the City of Americus’ first City manager. L. Steve Kennedy is the former City Manager for the City of Kennesaw for the past 13 years. He holds a bachelor’s of business administration in accounting and finance from Valdosta State University. He Kennedy will begin work with the City of Americus on April 15 as the chief administrative officer and will subsequently become the first City manager on July 1.

A press released from the City said the mayor and the City Council feel that Kennedy has the experience, background and education to perform the duties of City manager and that he brings with him a wealth of knowledge in the areas of risk management, financial management, budgeting, strategic planning, problem solving, customer service, utility operations, project management and utility operation.
