AMERICUS — After much deliberation and interviewing, the governing board of the Furlow Charter School (FCS) has appointed Emmanuel Vincent, Ed. D., as principal for the 2015-2016 school year.

“We are very excited to have Dr. Vincent onboard. His enthusiasm and forward thinking will complement the vision of the school,” stated Elizabeth Kuipers, Ph.D., chair of the FCS governing board.

Born and raised in Monrovia, Liberia, Vincent moved to the U.S. in 1983. He currently serves as vice principal at Pinevale Elementary School in Valdosta.

“I believe that the primary purpose of educational administration is to provide a cohesive learning environment to serve the needs of students and community while accomplishing the goals of the institution. This is my desire for the Furlow Charter School,” explained Vincent.

Vincent is a Massachusetts Education Policy Fellow, a Carnegie Fellow, a Springfield College Writing Fellow and a Fulbright Fellow who studied educational leadership trends in Costa Rica, Germany, Belgium, Spain, Netherlands and Japan.

He has a doctor of education in educational leadership from Johnson & Wales University, a master’s of education in administration, middle/secondary school principal from Providence College, a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Educational Leadership (CAGS) from Johnson & Wales University, a masters of education in special education, mild to moderate mid/sec lLevel from Providence College, and bachelor of arts in public and professional communications and English literature from Rhode Island College.

In addition to his educational and research responsibilities, Vincent has a passion for international travel and takes every opportunity to immerse himself in global trends in education. He and his wife Rebecca have three children, Emmanuel, Gabrielle and Tore.
