AMERICUS, Ga.- The Georgia Southwestern women’s softball team (15-31, 2-18) were swept by Georgia Regents (29-11, 15-7) at Lady Canes Field on April 18.

GAME 1: GSW 0, GR 10

GSW was able to hold off Georgia Regents in the first inning by getting three outs in four batters. The Jaguars came back in the second and scored two runs off a double to center field. They scored four more in the fourthoff three singles. At the to of the fifth they scored four more, one on an error, one off a wild pitch and two off a home run.

GSW finished the game with no hits, no runs, no RBI’s and two errors.

Haley Goodson (4-15) took the loss for the Lady ‘Canes after pitching four innings. She gave up 10 hits, 10 runs, walked three and struck out three.

Brittany Childs pitched one inning, gave up no hits, no runs, walked none and struck out one.

GAME 2: GSW 2, GR 11

Georgia Regents started off the second game with a three run home run. They scored another in the third off an error and seven more in the fourth.

With no outs and Erin Steele on first senior Rachel McElroy stepped up and hit a home run to the batting cages to get two runs in for GSW.

GSW finished the game with three hits, two runs, one RBI’s and three errors.

Haley Goodson (4-16) took the loss for GSW after pitching three innings. She gave up five hits, eight runs, walked four and stuck out one.

Brittany Childs pitched one innings, gave up two hits, three runs, walked three and struck out one.

Savannah Carlisle pitched one  innings, gave up no hits, no runs, walked two and struck out two.

The Lady ‘Canes are home on April 19 to host Flagler College in a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.

SENIOR DAY:

In between games the Lady ‘Canes honored their five seniors; Rachel McElroy, Kiley Doster, Keri Tompkins, Lauren Thrasher and Chelsea Littlejohn. Each senior received a senior plaque, a banner with an action shot that hung in the outfield, flowers and gifts from the team. Coach Ward had some sentimental words for each girl that were unique and meaningful about their time here at GSW. “These five seniors will be missed and we wish them good luck in their future endeavors.”
