Sumter Elementary School Science Lab teacher Laura Gerlach displays her recognition to the Odyssey of the Mind Hall Of Fame. She received the award at the state competition at Columbus State University. The Coaches Hall of Fame honors deserving coaches that go above and beyond the call of duty and model the true spirit of Odyssey of the Mind. Her team from Sumter County Elementary School was one of four teams district-wide that competed in this unique program that allows students the opportunity to create every aspect of a theater production from sets to costumes to the script itself and perform it in a statewide completion. This year Gerlach’s team from Sumter Elementary School made it all the way to the state finals.
