Sumter County Schools Superintendent Donnie Smith said Staley Middle School was on lock-down around 12:15 p.m. Monday.

Smith said there was no shooter on the Staley campus, but “since there had been two shootings during a certain amount of time in the area of Staley, we placed the school on lock-down as a safety precaution.”
