This handout photo, taken Aug. 17, 2005, provided by the US Geological Survey/Princeton University shows an American pika. A new study in the journal Science projects that one in 13 species will go extinct because of global warming. One species that is in trouble because it has few places to escape the heat is the American pika, pictured here in this 2005 handout photo, said study author Mark Urban of the University of Connecticut.
