AMERICUS – South Georgia Technical College Athletic Director and Lady Jets head coach James Frey announced today that Georgia Independent Schools Association (GISA) and the Georgia Sportswriters Association All-State nominee Kendra Green of Tattnall Square Academy in Macon has signed a letter of intent to play basketball with the Lady Jets in the 2015-16 season.

“Kendra seems to be a hard worker and I am very excited about adding her to the Lady Jets roster,” said Frey. “She comes from a winning program and I believe that she will be an asset to the strong group of players that we have returning from last season.

Todd Whetsel, Tattnall Square’s Lady Trojans head basketball coach, commended Green for her character, commitment and dedication to the Lady Trojans. “She arrives early, stays late, and is always humble which makes her very easy to coach,” said Whetsel.

Green, who averaged 13 points and nine rebounds per game for the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) Class 7A Lady Trojans, was named All-Region and All-State at Tattnall Square Academy as a junior during the school’s final season as a member of the GISA. Her team was 20–8 that season. As a senior, Green and the Lady Trojans were 27-3 in the GHSA 7A classification. Green also received All-Region recognition and was a Georgia Sportswriters Association All-State honorable mention.

The Lady Jets have also signed two other freshman for the upcoming season. They signed Brooks Burns of Hawthorne High School in Hawthorne, Florida, and Mikaela “Twin” Jones from Woodrow Wilson High School in Portsmouth, Virginia.

Green, Burns, and Jones will be joining a strong group of returnees from the Lady Jets 2014–2015 season. Starters Molly Brown, a 5’ 10” forward from Douglasville, Georgia; Cierra Bond, a 5’ 9” guard from Inkster, MI; Brittney Delva, a 5’ 6” guard from Tallahassee, FL; Ty Henderson, a 5’ 6” point guard from Arcadia, LA; Asia “Peaches” Smith, a 5’ 11” forward from Irwinton, GA; and Claudia Perez, a 6’0” forward from Zaragoza, Spain, have all agreed to return for the 2015–2016 season.

Coach James Frey and Assistant Coach Kezia Conyers are continuing to build on their strong nucleus for the upcoming season by signing top student athletes that fit the disciplined, fast-paced style of basketball at SGTC.
