AMERICUS – The Americus-Sumter Panthers soccer team recently had four of the team’s members honored with post-season accolades.

Tylen Pepito won Defensive Player of the Year for the region. Jonathan Abarca was named First Team All-Region as a mid-fielder. Fransisco Gonzalez was named First Team All-Region as a forward, and Jonathan Rodriguez, in his first year playing high school soccer, was named First Team All-Region as a defender.

Abarca, Gonzalez, and Pepito were all were nominated, and won, spots on the Georgia High School Soccer All-Star Team.

On the team’s prospects for nexrt season, Panther head coach Greg Fowler said “Next year will be a very exciting year with so many of my players being young and never having played with each other.”
