AMERICUS — Innovative Senior Solutions (ISS) and the Caring 4 Seniors Foundation (C4SF) host the fifth annual Senior Fall Festival on Sept. 9, at the Hangar’s Gymnasium on the Campus of South Georgia Technical College (SGTC).
This years’ festival holds claim to the fifth installment of what began as a marketing project for SGTC intern student, Donna Whitt who currently is director of Community Relations at ISS. The project was initiated as a challenge to think outside the box to create a gathering that would bring resources related to senior care under one roof.
In 2011, Whitt welcomed the project with open arms and embraced it as a unique challenge to make a difference in the lives of seniors. In that year, 250 seniors attended the first “Senior Fall Festival” at the SGTC Pope Center. Right away Whitt and the ISS marketing department knew this was the start of something great.
The Senior Fall Festival has become a highly anticipated event for seniors near and far who love to dance, play bingo, learn and have a great time doing so. For the past few years attendance has been steady, but in 2012, the Senior Fall Festival had its largest participation with more than 500 seniors in attendance. This year expectation is even higher than in years past.
The festival requires a lot to put together and this year’s festival will need help! If interested in being a sponsor, volunteer or a vendor, contact Johnny Hawkins, Community Relations specialist 229-928-3673, ext.110 or Whitt, ext. 109. In year’s past, Café Campesino, Citizens Bank of Americus, Peoples South Bank, Phoebe Sumter Medical Center, Southwest Georgia Rehab, and Wells Fargo have sponsored the festival.
