AMERICUS — Southland Academy welcomes nine new faculty members for the upcoming 2015-2016 school year.
Robin Brock is a K5 teacher this year, and she is married to Steve Brock. They have one son, Wes, who is five. Robin Brock is a graduate of Georgia Southern University and Brewton Parker College, and she lists reading and spending time with family as her hobbies. She said she is looking forward to having her son in 5K “across the hall from me.”
A new first-grade teacher this year is Lisa Poudrier Collins, who is married to Rod Collins. She and her husband are both alumni of Southland; in fact, her husband was in Southland’s first graduating class. Lisa Collins holds her maste’s in early childhood education and said that walking, reading and golf are her hobbies.
Lorrie Ledger is teaching second grade this year, and she is married to Southland alumnus Clint Ledger. They have one child, Avery, who is eight. Lorrie Ledger has her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in early childhood education, and she obtained her specialist degree in leadership and learning. In her free time, she enjoys painting and decorating.
Teaching third grade this year is April Duke, wife of 1991 Southland graduate Ray Duke. They have four children at Southland: Karson, 16; Nathan, 12; Lauren, 10, and Maison, 3. April Duke received her bachelor of science in education from Georgia Southwestern University, and enjoys oil painting in her free time.
The new language arts teacher for fourth and fifth grades is Maria Cloer, married to Kevin Cloer of Ellaville. They have three children: Garrison, 13; Connor, 11, and Evan, 5. Maria Cloer received her bachelor of arts in middle grades education from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and lists her hobbies as walking, reading, camping, teaching a middle school youth group and enjoying family time. About her employment at Southland, she said, “The Cloers are incredibly excited and honored to have the opportunity to join the Southland Academy community. It hasn’t taken us long to feel the true sense of being part of a family with true values and a commitment to excellence.”
Rolie Hancock returns to Southland as a full-time teacher after having graduated from the school. He will be teaching middle school science and coaching football, basketball and baseball. His bachelor’s degree is in exercise science and wellness. He said, “I’ve coached at Southland Academy since I’ve graduated from here, and I look forward to giving back to my family.”
Joining Southland full-time this year is Nicolas McGehee as he will be teaching lower and middle school Spanish, high school psychology and coaching the wrestling team. He received his bachelor of science degree in psychology, and he attends the First Baptist Church in Americus. For his hobbies, he enjoys playing the guitar and drums and being a Christian singer and songwriter.
Nicole McGlamory Hoffman, wife of Ryan Hoffman, is teaching middle school and high school math this year. She and her husband have one son, Kyler, who is six. Nicole Hoffman received her bachelor of science and master of education degrees from Georgia Southwestern University. Among her hobbies are gardening and watching UGA football. She said, “Thank you for this opportunity! I appreciate the warm welcome and am excited to be a part of the Raider family.”
The new high school art teacher and office assistant is Angie Daniel Trollinger, married to Stan Trollinger of Americus. They have three sons: Austen, 24; Hunter, 20, and Reagan, 15. Angie  Trollinger is a 1987 graduate of Southland Academy and 1991 graduate of the City College of Chicago with a degree in business administration. She worked at Danfair Transport, LLC for 23 years and enjoys painting and gardening in her free time.
