FORT VALLEY — Schley County FFA members Dallas Avery, Clay McLemore, Blake Masters, Laura Hall, Will Williams, Thad Clark, Tristan Brown, Trey Mast, Alicia Huerta, Jackson Benjamin, Faith Harbuck, Ashton Goodin, Robert Logan, Caitlin Strickland, Haley Nutt, Courtney Nutt, Rowan Sinnott, Trey Robinson, Michael Wise, Noah Hammons, Cory Rix, Shelbi Gladden, Nick Roberts, Collin Landers, Matthew Folds, Christian Bivins, Cory Buchanan, Michael Wilson, Savannah Belcher, Tayla Kirksey, Madison Bennett, Ethan Shufflebarger, Jacob Brunson, Hannah Simpson, Noah Smith, Mason Bryan, Logan Johnson, Zach Lach, Cody Woodall and Dylan Windham attended the 5th Annual Central Region Leadership Rally held at Camp John Hope FFA/FCCLA Center in Fort Valley on Sept. 15.
The purpose of the day leadership rally was a way to spark the interest in our FFA members and motivate them to get involved during the upcoming school year in Career Development Events, local community service projects, leadership conferences, and conventions.
While attending the Central Region Leadership Rally members heard from speakers from Fort Valley State University and the State FFA advisor, John “Chip” Bridges. Students also rotated through various leadership activities lead by the Area 3 and Area 4 officers as well as the central region staff. Through these activities students learned communication, team building and leadership skills that will be used in the Schley County FFA chapter.
“Students, we hope that you take the National FFA Theme and Amplify your school year in the FFA,” says Central Region director, Chris Corzine.
FFA advisors/agricultural teachers that were in attendance included Eric Sellers.
During the Central Region Leadership Rally students also were able to compete in a variety of events that will help the students know what they would like to compete in during the upcoming school year. These career clustered events included: horticulture plant identification, animal science identification, forestry identification, ag mechanics identification, and opening ceremonies contest (formal meeting procedures) and an Advisor’s Challenge.
FFA is a national organization of over 610,000 members preparing for leadership and careers in the science, business and technology of agriculture. FFA is an internal part of the agricultural education program in public schools. The FFA mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
