SGTC releases Jets’, Lady Jets’ 2015-16 basketball schedules

AMERICUS – South Georgia Technical College (SGTC) Athletic Director and Lady Jets head basketball coach James Frey has released the Jets and Lady Jets basketball schedules for the 2015-16 season that features 14 home games for the NJCAA Region XVII defending champion Lady Jets’ squad and only 10 homes games for the Jets.
“We are very excited about the new season,” said Frey. “Assistant Coach Kezia Conyers and I have a good group of Lady Jets returning this season along with a very good recruiting class. I am also pleased that Travis Garrett has taken over the reins of the Jets’ basketball program. He and assistant coach Chris Ballauer have done an outstanding job of recruiting this summer and we should have some very exciting men’s and women’s basketball games this year. I am looking forward to a good season from both the Jets and the Lady Jets.”
The home schedule for the Lady Jets for 2015-16 season will begin on Nov. 25 against Shelton State College at 2:00 p.m. The Lady Jets will host East Georgia State College on Dec. 5 at 1:00 p.m. in a double-header with the Jets and then will play Georgia Highlands College on Dec. 10 at 5:30 p.m. in another double-header. They will also host Andrew College on Dec. 12 at 1:00 p.m.
The Lady Jets will host the SGTC Christmas Classic on Dec. 29-31 and will face Broward, Pensacola State, and Gadsden State. They will play at 6:00 p.m. on the 29th and 30th and at 2:00 p.m. on the 31st.
The Lady Jets and the Jets will play at home on Jan. 11 in a double-header against Chattahoochee Tech beginning at 5:30 p.m. Then they will host Atlanta Metro College on Jan. 13, beginning at 5:30 p.m. The two teams will host Central Georgia Tech beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Jan. 23.
In February, the Lady Jets will host Darton State College on Feb. 3 in a double-header with the Jets facing Gordon State College. The last two home games for the Lady Jets before the finals will be on Feb. 8 against Chattanooga State and then on Feb. 17 against Albany Technical College.
The away game schedule for the Lady Jets consists of a trip to Albany to the Darton State Classic on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1. Then the Lady Jets travel to Gadsden, Alabama on Nov. 5 to play Gadsden State College and from there, head to Cuthbert to take on Andrew College on Nov. 10.
The Lady Jets travel to Florida and Tennessee in November with trips to St. Petersburg College on the 14th and Hillsborough College on the 15th. They will be at Chattanooga State in Chattanooga, Tenn. on Nov. 18.
The first game in December will be on the road on Dec. 2, with a trip to Central Georgia Tech, followed by a trip to Marianna, FL for the Chipola Classic on Dec. 16-17.
The Lady Jets begin the New Year on the road on Jan. 3 to Shelton State and then return to Albany to play Darton on Jan. 6. The other away games in January include Albany Technical College on Jan. 17, East Georgia State College on Jan. 27, and Georgia Highlands College on Jan. 30.
In February, the Lady Jets take on Chattahoochee Tech on the 5th and Atlanta Metro College on the 13th. The National Junior College Athletic Association Region XVII Tournament is set for Feb. 23, 26, and 27. The location will be determined by the highest seed from the regular season.
The Jets will open the regular season on the road at the PJC Classic in Pensacola, Fla. on Oct. 30-31. They travel to Chattahoochee Valley Community College on Nov. 7 and then to the Hillsborough Community College Classic on Nov. 13-14. They travel to Chipola College on Nov. 18 and then participate in the South Georgia State Classic on Nov. 20-21 and the Hampton Inn Thanksgiving Bash on Nov. 27-28.
In December, the Jets travel to Central Georgia Tech on the second. They will finally open their home schedule on Dec. 5, hosting East Georgia State and then Georgia Highlands on Dec. 10. The only other home game in December is on the 17th against Chipola College.
The other road games in December for the Jets include Gordon State College on the 12th, and the Gulf Coast Community College Classic on December 29-30.
In January, the Jets will travel to South Georgia State College on the sixth and then will have three home games. They will host Chattahoochee Valley Community College on the 9th, Chattahoochee Technical College on the 11th, and Atlanta Metro College on the 13th.
The Jets travel to Albany Technical College on Jan. 17 and then host Central Georgia Tech on Jan. 23. The remaining games in January include a match-up against East Georgia State College on the 27th and Georgia Highlands College on the 30th
The Jets February schedule opens at home with a games against Gordon State College on Feb. 3. Then they travel to Chattahoochee Tech on Feb. 5 and Atlanta Metro on Feb. 13. The Jets host Albany Tech on Feb. 18 and South Georgia College on Feb. 25.
The NJCAA Region XVII tournament will be held March 2, 4, and 7 with the location to be determined by the highest seed.
