Americus
Mount Zion Baptist Church

Big Bethel Baptist Church
The 132nd church anniversary is celebrated at 7 p.m. Oct. 6-8. On Tuesday, the Rev. Sammy Stokes and Mount Able Baptist Church, Lee County are in charge of the service; Wednesday, the Rev. Michael Walker and New St. Paul Baptist Church, Americus; and Thursday, the Rev. Toney Smith and Beulah Land Baptist Church, Dawson. The celebration culminates at 11 a.m. Oct. 11 when Pastor Calvin F. Rollins delivers the sermon, and at 2:30 p.m., the Rev. Dr. H.C. Wilson and Mount Olive Baptist Church, Americus are in charge of the service. The theme is “A Great and Mighty Walk” and everyone is invited.

New Jerusalem Baptist Church
The annual Men and Women Day program is Sunday with Sunday school at 9:30 a.m., followed by worship at 11 a.m. Speaker is Evangelist Sarah Dice and Zion Hope Baptist Church.

The church celebrates its 179th year at 9:45 a.m. Sunday. The Rev. Bill Dupree is guest speaker and a covered dish dinner follows.

New St. Paul Baptist Church
At 3 p.m. Oct. 10, a pastor’s appreciation program features the Rev. Carlton Martin as speaker. Zion Hill Baptist Church has been asked to be charge of the service, choir, praise and worship and devotion. All churches are invited.

Fellowship Baptist Church
Here is an opportunity to share something you normally throw away. The September mission project is recycling empty medicine bottles: small, both prescription or non-prescription, plastic bottles. The bottles will sent to poor countries where only paper is available. When medicines are wrapped in paper, they can be easily damaged, lost or a danger to children. Labels can be removed with GooBgone or hot water. Place in a plastic bag and drop in designated container at the church or call Linda Degelmann at 942-2000.
