Inmate bus involved in wreck

ELLAVILLE — A bus carrying prison inmates was involved in a traffic accident in Ellaville early Friday afternoon.
According to the Georgia State Patrol Post 10, Americus, which was investigating, they were notified at 1:05 p.m. about the wreck at U.S. Highway 19 and Ga. Highway 26.
Sumter County Sheriff Pete Smith told the Times-Recorder that Schley County Sheriff Shane Tondee requested assistance and Sumter sent six patrol units and a bus to help in tranporting 18 inmates to Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus for treatment.
