AMERICUS – The Americus-Sumter Panthers Touchdown Club has decided to take a trip down “Memory Lane” during the Panthers’ final home match of the season on Oct. 23. Members of the Americus High School Panthers football teams from the years 1965, 1974, and 1975 seasons are to be honored with a “sideline tailgate” as the Panthers battle the Worth County Rams. Members of the historic teams will be recognized during a ceremony at the game as well.
Each of the teams from ‘65, 74, and ‘75 won state championships during their years on the field. Each team went undefeated in their prespective seasons, scoring over 300 points. The 1965 Panthers completed their entore season, giving up only 27 points. The 1974 team gave up only 45 points during their season on the gridiron and the 1975 squad managed to get through the entire season with opponents scoring only eight points.

Many generations of players will display their Panther Pride at Finklea-Robinson Stadium that evening as the school will be observing Senior night as well during the game.
