Sumter County is partnering with the American Red Cross and going to visit homes in Sumter County on Saturday, Oct. 24. Volunteers will knock on the doors and see if the family has a smoke detector. If they do, they will make certain it is functioning properly and that the family has a plan. The project should be complete by noon.
