ALBANY — Reba Gosa Brock Ammons, 71, of Lee County, a former longtime resident of Albany, died Nov.  5, 2015, at Willson Hospice House in Albany.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015, in the chapel of Joseph W. Jones Funeral Home in Leesburg with the Rev. Earl Dunmon and the Rev. Bob Nipper officiating. Interment will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery in Albany.
A native of Lee County, Smithville area, she was a graduate of Lee County High School and a member of Christian Fellowship Church where she was loved by all she met and loved all she met. Mrs. Ammons was the daughter of the Late LeRoy and Addie Mae Smith Gosa. She lived most of her life in Albany where she was a former member of Palmyra Road United Methodist Church and New Life Church of Albany. She retired from AGE Federal Credit Union known as Renasant Bank after many years of service. Following her banking career, she was employed with Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital Medical Records and the Carlton Breast Center. She took a leave of absence from the hospital to care for her late husband, Horace D. Brock, who died in April 2004. She was currently employed with Regional Eye Center in Americus. Mrs. Ammons met and fell in love with J.R. Ammons whom she married, and together they loved spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed the simple pleasures in life which included cooking for her family, gospel sings, fishing, canning and bringing laughter to all she was around. However, most of all she loved and adored her grandchildren.
She was preceded death by her parents, her husband Horace Brock, a brother LeRoy Gosa, Jr., son-in-law Kenneth Merritt Jr. and a granddaughter Megan Merritt.
Survivors include her husband, John Reuben (J.R.) Ammons of Leesburg; a daughter, Sherrie Nipper and her husband Bob of Sylvester; son, Jason Thornhill and his wife Marty of Albany; stepson, Chris Ammons and his wife Dawn of Plains; stepdaughter, Donalyn Ammons of New Jersey; sister, Marjorie Gloss and her husband Jack of Jefferson; grandchildren, Thomas Merritt, Haley Thornhill, Reed Thornhill and Adison Ammons and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Joseph W. Jones Funeral Home in Leesburg and will be at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Ammons at 529 Gosa Road, Leesburg GA 31763.
