AMERICUS — Sumter Players Inc. and Georgia Southwestern State University announce their co-production of the hilarious whodunit ‘The Game’s Afoot, or Holmes for the Holidays.’ Co-directed by Jason Wallace and Will Dozier, the production will be at the historic Rylander Theatre Nov. 19-22 with 8 p.m. shows Thursday through Saturday and a 2:30 p.m. matinee Sunday. The production is made possible through special arrangement with Samuel French Inc.
It is December 1936, and Broadway star William Gillette, admired the world over for his leading role in the play Sherlock Holmes, has invited his fellow cast-members to his Connecticut castle for a weekend of revelry.
But when one of the guests is stabbed to death, the festivities in this isolated house of tricks and mirrors quickly turn dangerous. Then it’s up to Gillette himself, as he assumes the persona of his beloved Holmes, to track down the killer before the next victim appears. Playwright Ken Ludwig’s “The Game’s Afoot, or Holmes for the Holidays: combines physical comedy and biting wit to create an experience that’s fun and entertaining for all audiences.
In addition to directing, Wallace and Dozier will be starring in the production as well as William Gillette and Felix Geisel, respectively. Additional cast members include Elizabeth Gurnack as Martha Gillette, Sara Higgins Mackenzie as Madge Geisel, Justin Neal as Simon Bright, Rachel Riemke as Aggie Wheeler, Wendy Hearn Castilla as Inspector Goring, and Daina Rosario as Daria Chase.
