Reminder about special Thanksgiving dinner
his is to remind all of you about the special Thanksgiving dinner that will be served to special people of this community. It is for the elderly, home-bound or anyone who doesn’t have a place to go or the needy on this special day.
It will be held from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 26 at the Ellaville City Center.
Anyone wanting to attend or have their meal delivered to them at  home needs to call Neil Snyder at 942-4968 or Carlene Beckwith at 937- 5767 by Nov. 19. This is to let them know how many will attend so they will have enough to feed everyone.
These special people who prepare the dinner can surely use a extra dish or two to help them out in preparing the meal on Thanksgiving Day.
It’s very important that you call by Nov. 19 and let them know where they can prepare a meal for you.

Local historical society to hold annual Thanksgiving Bake Sale
The Ellaville-Schley County Historical Society has its annual Thanksgiving Bake Sale on Saturday, Nov.  21 at the Piggly Wiggly, just inside the front door.
The bake sale begin at 10 a.m. and lasts until all baked goods are gone.
The women of our local historical society and others will be baking, and anyone else who would like to donate a baked good to us will be welcome. You don’t have to be a member to bake a real good dessert for us.
All proceeds will go to renovate and preserve our history.
Remember you can freeze cakes and some pies, and you will have them for Thanksgiving Day or later.

City of Ellaville election results
On Tuesday, Nov. 3, the City of Ellaville held an election.
The results follow:
District 1 City Council — Leslie Haynes Minter— received 15 votes/ was unopposed
District 2 City Council — Janet Ellis — received 3 votes/unopposed
District 3  City Council — Jason Hoch — received 12 votes/ and took the seat of Billy Lightner
District 4 City Council — Carlton Wilson — received 25 votes in the contested race against Grant Ingle who received 11 votes.

City of Ellaville to have Christmas Parade
he City of Ellaville will have its annual Christmas Parade at 6 p.m. on Dec.  10. The Theme for the parade is A Candy Christmas.”
If any churches, schools, clubs bands, organizations, antique cars, marching units and horses are interested in being in the parade go by City Hall and pick up an entry form. All entry forms must be turned into the city by Dec. 4.
This year they have some special regulations and rules for the parade. So go by the city hall and pick yourself up a entry form and  get ready for this special event.

A child’s ‘Make a Wish” deer hunt happens in Schley County
On Oct. 23-25, the Rock Hill Hunting Preserve hosted its “Make A Wish” for five special hunters this year. All had the opportunity to shoot at deer and four them harvested their first deer. The hunters were Mackenzie Carter of Tifton, Daniel Collins of Fitzgerald, Colton Moore of Columbus and Myles and Mattox Woodard of Waycross.
These hunters registered for the hunts through the United Special Sportsman Alliance (USSA) www.childswish.org
Everyone arrived Friday afternoon in time to shoot on the range to  get comfortable with their weapons. They went to their stands with local guides Friday afternoon where three of the hunters got their first deer.
Saturday morning they went out again and shot at a few, but missed them. They got one more chance Saturday afternoon to try to improve their record. One more doe was shot on the last hunt.
This is the fifth USSA hunt that Rock Hill has sponsored and was successful because of the hard work accomplished by the volunteers.  Local citizens cooked, cleaned, guided the hunts, and kept the children and their families company. Douglas Jamieson said that he extends his personal thanks to Rusty and Mary Taylor (owners) and everyone that donated, volunteered or helped in anyway. Douglas said if he listed the volunteers he would be afraid that he would leave someone out, but they have been the backbone of the success for the past five years.
The United Special Sportman Alliance Inc. (USSA) is an all-volunteer  501[c] [3] non -profit with granting charity that specializes in sending critically ill and disabled youth and disabled veterans on the outdoor adventure of their dreams. USSA adventures give youth and veterans something to look forward to and help sustain them in their time of need. Families are whisked away from the mundane, man- made world of hospitals and high medical bills by giving them a place of peace to focus on the quality of life, family ties and the wonders of the natural world.
The USSA is composed of a 100 percent volunteer staff from all walks of life, bonded together by common love for our fellow mankind and deep respect and appreciation of our world’s natural resources. By working cooperatively, caring adventure donors as well as generous individuals and cooperating sponsors, USSA has made a significant impact on the lives of thousands of children, disabled veterans and their families.  The public image of all sportsmen is enhanced through this valuable community service an new life long friendships are made.
