Phoebe Sumter to Host Rural Health Summit Tuesday, Nov. 17

Phoebe Sumter Medical Center is hosting a Rural Health Summit sponsored by State Senator Freddie Powell Sims, District 12.  The summit will address the challenges of rural healthcare in Southwest Georgia. Topics will include the economic impact to families and public policy, recruitment and retention of medical staff, and mental health treatment.

Special guests will include Lt. Governor Casey Cagle and Dr. Jean R. Sumner, of Mercer University School of Medicine.

The summit is from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center, 126 U.S. Highway 280 West, Americus.
