PLAINS — Funeral services for Elder Theodore Roosevelt Wakefield Jr. of Plains, Ga., will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015, ar Lebanon Baptist Church. The Rev. Shirley Strawter will officiate and burial will follow in the Lebanon Cemetery. The remains will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to the services.
Elder Theodore Roosevelt Wakefield Jr. was born on June 16, 1932, in Webster County, Georgia, to the parentage of the late Rev. Theodore Roosevelt Wakefield and the late Mrs. Arrena Raven Wakefield. He pastored churches in the Albany-Valdosta District and the Southern District before being appointed as Presiding Elder of the Southern District. He retired from the ministry in 2001, after serving faithfully for 37 years.
He leaves to cherish his memories: two sons, Mr. Arther James Wakefield and Mr. Simeon (Gloria) Wakefield: three daughters, Mrs. Erma (Donald) Jenkins, Mrs. Mary (Michael) Harden and Ms. Vivian Singleton: two brothers, the Rev. Franklin (Roxie) Wakefield and Mr. Herman (Bobbie) Wakefield; two sisters, Mrs. Naomi (Bennie) Thomas and Ms. Mary Minion; 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.
