AMERICUS — To conclude a great educational fire safety month, the Americus Fire & Emergency Services’ clowns visited Southland Academy.
Lower School Director, Laura Kinslow, commented, “Our community is extremely fortunate to have the Americus Fire and Safety program. The firemen have read to our students, instructed them in the Fire Safety House, and allowed the students to get into a real fire truck. To conclude the month, the clown show is just a great way to entertain students while helping them to learn about fire safety.”
Students in grades 1-5 gathered in the Deriso Building while the clowns not only induced lots of laughter but also reinforced lessons that they have been teaching the young students all month.
Among the lessons reviewed in the assembly were pedestrian safety, seatbelt safety, and the correct way to exit a burning building.
The students know to have a meeting place for their families, to call 911, and especially to STOP, DROP, AND ROLL!
Southland Academy appreciates the devotion that our firemen have for our community, our schools, and especially for our children.
