AMERICUS — Mrs. Evelyn Turner Stewart, age 100, of 202 Lorraine Ave., Americus died Monday, Nov. 30, 2015, at Phoebe Sumter Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday,  Dec.  5, 2015, in the chapel of Aldridge Funeral Services. The Rev. Bill Dupree will officiate. The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until service time on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015.
Mrs. Stewart was born March 5, 1915, in Franklin County, Ga., daughter of the late Charles A. Turner and the late Minnie Lee Andrews Turner. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Americus and served in the Women’s Christian Society. Mrs. Stewart worked for the former A. Cohen & Sons in the ladies dress shop and the Sumter County School Board before retirement.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Bob Stewart (Celeste) of Dalton, Ga., and Bill Stewart (Martha) of Houston, Texas; and two grandchildren, Jeffrey Turner Stewart and Jennifer Stewart, both of Houston, Texas. Mrs. Stewart was preceded in death by her husband Leonard E. Stewart and seven brothers and three sisters.
