Congratulations to the Americus-Sumter High School Pride of Southwest Georgia Marching Band for their performance Oct. 17 at the Battle on the Border at Lowndes High School in Valdosta. The band received the following awards: Superior Ratings for Drum Major, Danceline, Percussion and Band; Excellent Rating for Color Guard; Best in Class Drum Major, Guard, Danceline, and Percussion; 2nd Place for Band. They earned a total of nine trophies in all. The Drum Major, Gabrion Johnson, had the 3rd highest score out of sixteen bands. Debra Hughes, director of the band, stated, ‘We are very proud of our Panther Marching Band!’
