GSW signs baseball standout for 2017

AMERICUS – Georgia Southwestern State University head baseball coach Bryan McLain recently announced the signing of Jonathan Martin, from Irwin County High School (ICHS) in Ocilla, of a national letter of intent to play for the Hurricanes in 2017.
Martin, a 6’1” outfielder, hit .480 for ICHS last spring and stole 14 bases. He also served as a pitcher for the Indians, posting a 1.41 earned-run average over 15 appearances.
Martin garnered several accolades in 2015 as he was named to the Georgia Dugout Club Preseason Class A All-State First Team and the Region 2-A Players to Watch list, selected as Region 2-A Pitcher of the Year, named First Team Region 2-A, and selected to Georgia Dugout Club’s Top 100.
