Americus Fire & Emergency Services

• Firefighters responded to 13 calls for medical attention.
• Firefighters responded to a report of a possible structure fire at Magnolia Manor, 2001 S. Lee St. It was determined that a dryer had filled a room with steam, not smoke.
• Firefighters responded to a report of gas smell on Habitat Street. No leak was found.
• Firefighters responded to a report of a possible structure fire on Forrestside Circle. The homeowner told them the ceiling fan in the bathroom had caught fire and they had tried to extinguish it. Fire personnel found light smoke and visible flames on a rug and the toilet. They extinguished the fire, ventilated the structure and searched for hot spots and none were found. They advised the homeowner to contact an electrician.
• Firefighters responded to a report of a bonfire on Bush Circle. Occupants were burning rubbish outside and were instructed to extinguish the fire which is in violation of City code.

Arrests
• Gregory Daniels Jr., 23, of 1212 Oglethorpe Ave., Americus is charged with battery (Domestic Violence Act) and criminal trespass, and was jailed.
• Reginald B. Harris, 24, of 127 W. Rockhill Drive, Americus is charged with driving while unlicensed and seat belt violation.
• A juvenile was charged with unruliness on Laurel Circle.
• A juvenile was charged with unruliness on Lonnie Lane.
• A juvenile was charged with unruliness on Dixon Drive.
• Two juveniles were charged with robbery by sudden snatching at After Hours Care, 208-A E. Lamar St.
• Elizabeth N. Maddox, 25, of 98-A Bozeman Circle, Americus is charged with driving while license is suspended or revoked, child restraint violation, expired tag/registration and window tint violation.

• Firefighters responded to the Sumter County Youth Development Campus, 300 McMath Mill Road, to check or carbon monoxide.

• Firefighters responded to Jury Clarke Road where they assisted Georgia Forestry with a skidder fire.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident at Ga. Highways 27 East and 195 North where they extricated one patient.
