YOKOSUKA, Japan — John Wise Walker, 74, of Yokosuka, Japan, died from lung cancer with complications of pneumonia, on Dec. 13, 2015.
John was born on Aug. 30, 1941, in Americus, Georgia. He lived in Preston and Plains until he joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 18 after graduation from Plains High School. John was a career sailor, spending 30 years in the service of his country.
In addition to his parents, Leroy Walker and Loris Wise Walker, he was preceded in death by sister, Margaret LaVerne Walker Gallman, and his brother David Leroy Walker.
He is survived by his wife, Harue Ishida Walker; two daughters, Loris Ishida Walker Kimura and Lina Ishida Walker; one granddaughter Moka Kimura, and his sister, Rhoda Walker Coleman.
John was cremated in accordance with his Buddhist traditions.
