Lady Panthers take down Woodward Academy in round three, earn spot in state quarterfinals

AMERICUS – Nearly every member of the talented Americus-Sumter High School (ASHS) Lady Panthers basketball team saw time on the court tonight as the ASHS girls cruised to a 64-28 blowout of the Woodward Academy Lady War Eagles in the state AAAA playoffs.
With the win, the Lady Panthers’ 2015-16 record jumps to 28-1 on the season. With this impressive record, the Lady Panthers remain squarely in the number-one spot in the state rankings.
With their significant victory over the small, but scrappy Woodward team, the Lady Panthers have earned a spot in the quarterfinal round of the state tournament, scheduled to take place on Feb. 26 at 3:00 in Fort Valley.
The Lady Panthers’ opponent in the third round of competition is yet to be determined.
