Strong wind advisory issued for Sumter and surrounding counties

AMERICUS – A wind advisory has been issued for Sumter and the surrounding counties, including Schley and Crisp.
The warning goes into effect on Feb. 24 at 1:00 a.m. and ends on Feb. 25 at 1:00 a.m.
The advisory states that strong winds of at least 20 mph or gusts of 35 mph or higher are possible.
The advisory states that numerous trees may be downed due to wet soils and driving may become difficult due to loose, unsecured objects being blown around.
