ELLAVILLE — Kathy Royal, incumbent candidate for reelection as Schley County Clerk of Superior Court, issued the following announcement earlier this week.
“The past 10 years in office have been a wonderful experience and a true privilege. I am dedicated to the citizens of Schley County and to the preservation of our historical documents. I have tried to be courteous and sympathetic to the needs of our citizens. I am qualified, always ready and able to continue serving Schley County as your Clerk of Superior Court. I appreciate the confidence that you’ve shown me in the past and I look forward to the ongoing changes and challenges of being the Schley County Clerk of Superior Court should I be re-elected.
“In January of 2007 I was appointed to Chief Deputy Clerk by the previous clerk, Ginger Eubanks. Upon Mrs. Eubanks leaving office, I became the Superior Court Clerk. In 2009 I ran unopposed for the Clerk’s position and I have held the position till now. I worked long hours, nights and weekends training for the Clerk’s position. I am in the process of submitting my final paper to become a Certified Clerk through the Carl Vinson Institute of Government/University of Georgia. This Certification will be awarded at our Annual Superior Court Clerks Association Training Conference in October. The Clerk of Superior Court is a demanding job with a lot of duties and responsibility. Handling the filing of real estate records, liens, fifa’, civil cases, and criminal cases are just a few of those duties.

“I am a lifelong resident of Schley County and have been married to Mark Royal for 38 years. We have one daughter, Tracy.”
