MACON — Samuel Weaver McGarrah, 68, of Macon, formerly of Americus, passed away Sunday, March 27, 2016, at Navicent Health, Macon, Georgia. The family will greet friends from 5-6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 31, 2016, in Oak Grove Cemetery in Americus, Georgia, with the Rev. Bill Dupree officiating. Mr. McGarrah was born in Americus, Georgia to the late James A. and Frances Weaver McGarrah. He attended Americus Public Schools and later served in the National Guard. Mr. McGarrah was a member of the American Legion and Lakewild Wood Home Owners Association. He was formerly associated with Metalux, Mulcoa, and Reeves Construction Co. of Americus and Macon.
He is survived by his sister Allene M. Barnes of Gray; nieces, Kathy B. Roberson (Ronnie) of Macon and Christie Pratt (Randy) of Brandon, Miss.; nephews, Frank Barnes (Brenda) of Clemmons, N.C., Cecil Barnes (Cathy) of Gray, and Michael McGarrah (Rhetta) of Lumberton, Miss.; and several cousins.
