Flood watch in effect for Sumter area Thursday and Friday

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for portions of north and central Georgia from Thursday evening into Saturday. This includes Sumter, Schley, Macon, Marion and Webster counties.

The NWS says there is a “moist and unsettled weather pattern” expected across the area. “Periods of moderate to heavy rainfall are expected as a front approaches Georgia and moves through the state on Friday.”

A flash flood watch will be in effect from Thursday evening through Friday evening.
