ALBANY — Ms. Evie Pilcher Seth passed away on Monday evening, March 28, 2016, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, March 31, at Shiloh Baptist Church in Sumter County with the Rev. Hugh Harbort officiating. Burial will follow in the Howell Family Cemetery on Shiloh Road. The men of Shiloh Baptist Church are requested to serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30, at Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St., and at other times at the residence of Vi and Steve Roach, 158 Shiloh Road in Americus.
A native of Sumter County, Ms. Seth was born Aug. 29, 1941, a daughter of the late Pugh Howell Pilcher and Eva Parks Pilcher. She worked in the lab at Sumter Regional Hospital for 40 years and served as director for many of those years. Ms. Seth was an active and devoted member of Shiloh Baptist Church, where she participated in the choir and taught two- and three-year-olds in Sunday school for 40 years.
Survivors include her sister, Vi Roach (Steve) of Americus, her brother Joel Pilcher (Geneda) of Trenton, Ga., and numerous nieces and nephews.
